SUMMARY:Cosmological challenges for Artificial Intelligence
DTSTAMP:20260513T113355Z
DTSTART:20260522T092500Z
DESCRIPTION:Description:\nUnderstanding cosmology - the fundamental physica
l laws that govern our Universe - requires big telescope data and a look i
nto features that have so far escaped human-only analyses. To this end\, A
rtificial Intelligence can be used in multiple ways. With suitably designe
d architectures\, it can be a tool for accurate calibration of data and co
ntrol of systematic errors. Replacing costly calculations by emulation\, i
t can enable analyses that otherwise would be computationally infeasible.
Trained on numerical simulations\, it can serve as a model for complex ast
rophysical phenomena that exceeds the abilities of human theorists. And pe
rhaps LLMs are about to not just augment but replace the human scientist a
s the origin of ideas and interpretation. In this talk Prof. Dr. Daniel Gr
ün will give an overview of these developments and challenges.\n----------
